The name Rasselstein is synonymous with top-quality tinplate. Germany’s only tinplate manufacturer is based in Andernach and rolls hot strip supplied by ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe to a 10th of its initial thickness and then coats it electrolytically with tin or chromium/chromium oxide. The product range also includes tinplate with paint or plastic coatings. Rasselstein also supplies uncoated blackplate.
Tinplate is a versatile, inexpensive and eco-friendly packaging material. Food and drink cans, packaging for animal food, canisters and containers for paints and aerosols as well as closures are only some of its numerous applications. Tinplate can do more than other materials: Low weight and high-strength guarantee safe transportation and simple storage of all kinds of goods. Contents are optimally protected against dirt, bacteria, moisture, light and odors. In the chemical industry, containers made of tinplate offer unparalleled safety.
As well as its functional advantages tinplate offers various design possibilities, making it the material of choice for sophisticated eye-catching uses. Embossing, direct printing, unusual shapes – tinplate offers a multitude of packaging possibilities giving your product a strong image. Tinplate packaging is no longer reserved solely for food. Increasingly, high-value items such as watches, perfumes and mobile phone cards are being sold in tinplate cases.
As a world market leader and innovation driver we invest heavily in extending the range of uses and optimizing the properties of our material. We not only focus on material savings but also support wider innovative concepts for new tinplate packaging solutions such as for example the Cosmocan, a plastic-coated, laser-welded can offering brand-specific design possibilities through inline molding. This is just one of many examples of how we are making traditional materials fit for the future.
