For components subjected to high dynamic loads, there is hardly any alternative to medium wide strip from Hoesch Hohenlimburg. With its exceptionally close thickness tolerances, the material achieves cold-rolled strip-like quality. Outstanding surfaces, consistent material properties and excellent forming properties, including high-strength steels, make medium-wide strip ideal for difficult forming processes in direct processing and as a starting material for components in the auto industry.
Medium wide strip from Hoesch Hohenlimburg is produced by hot rolling in widths of up to 685 mm and thicknesses from 1.5 to 16 mm. In contrast to slit strip, the edges are rounded, without burrs or microcracks. Embrittlement due to strain hardening is excluded with medium wide strip.
Hohenlimburg medium wide strip offers excellent properties for further processing in the cold rolling mill. It can be produced with a fine pearlitic (sorbitic) microstructure across the entire length and width of the strip.
The microstructure in the edge area in particular can be produced with a sorbite content of almost 100%. This means that both non-alloy and alloy carbon steels can be cold-rolled with high reduction ratios without previous annealing, delivering a product with highly consistent mechanical properties. In short: Medium wide strip from Hoesch Hohenlimburg is the starting material of choice when it comes to meeting strict processing and forming requirements.
