Health and safety

“Health and safety in the workplace have a long-standing tradition at ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG. Corresponding activities in the past have resulted in a significant reduction in accidents at work and occupational illnesses in our company. However, despite the demonstrable successes, we cannot afford to rest on our laurels, and nor do we want to, as every accident is one accident too many and every occupational illness is avoidable.”

Dieter Kroll, member of the Executive Board, Labor Director

Employee commitment and performance as well as a high level of technical competence and work satisfaction are inseparable from the commercial success of the company.

Safe and healthy workplaces are in the interests of all employees; however, they are also a key condition for maintaining and increasing the competitiveness of ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe. The integration of health and safety into all operating procedures, i.e. inclusion right from the start in technical, economic and social considerations, is the prerequisite for this.

In order to continuously improve working conditions and healthy behavior, all employees need to be actively involved in health and safety matters. Their practical experiences help to develop optimized solutions at planning level. Activities are supplemented by targeted health promotion as part of a forward-looking corporate strategy. Prevention – precautionary measures taken to maintain employee health and safety as well as reduce absence and sickness levels – is of particular importance.
