ThyssenKrupp in Brazil
The partnership between Brazil and the ThyssenKrupp Group goes back to the 19th century. Back in 1837 Alfred Krupp received a contract from Brazil to supply two rolls, and in 1908 Thyssen supplied Henschel locomotives to Brazil.
22 subsidiaries of the ThyssenKrupp Group are currently active in Brazil, employing more than 13,000 people in total. The largest subsidiary is ThyssenKrupp Metalúrgica Campo Limpo Ltda. from the Technologies segment with more than 3,300 employees.
The company supplies forgings to the auto and engine industries and is Latin America's biggest and most advanced open-die forging operation.
The Elevator segment is represented in Brazil by ThyssenKrupp Elevadores. The company, which manufactures all main elevator components, is the third largest in the industry in Brazil.
Via its subsidiary ThyssenKrupp Servicos do Brasil, the Elevator segment holds an interest in the Brazilian RIP group, which carries out industrial services in the petrochemical, aluminum and iron ore mining industries.
